Prolotherapy / PRP

Prolotherapy is a series of injections of a nutritive solution that promotes regeneration of tendons and ligaments. In addition to many other uses, it is often used to treat chronic pain, arthritis, sprains, and torn ligaments.

For chronic pain, such as arthritis, Prolotherapy provides an alternative to prescription medications or pain killers.

Chances are you and your doctor haven't even heard of Prolotherapy (sometimes called Prolo). But the truth is, many professional athletes are using Prolotherapy and PRP to enhance healing of injuries such as sprained ankles, torn ligaments, or tendonitis. Prolotherapy is helping them get back in the game faster. And, it can help you, too!

What is Prolotherapy?
How does it work?

Unlike steroid injections, Prolotherapy boosts the body's own natural way of healing. Prolo is a regenerative therapy that helps the body heal itself.

By injecting Prolo solution into injured/painful areas, the solution alerts the immune system to make repairs. Over time, these repairs heal the cause of the pain.

Can Prolo help me?

Prolotherapy can stimulate healing and alleviate acute and chronic pain. It is ideal for patients with joint pain or injuries, like athletes. By strengthening the ligaments and tendons, the joints stay in place.

Prolo can be used in the back/spine, neck, and joints. Additional uses include treatments for TMJ, torn ligaments, fibromyalsia, arthritis, migraines, and more.

What is PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma)?

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) uses the technique of Prolotherapy to inject your own platelets into the area that is causing you pain. Uses for PRP are similar to those of Prolotherapy; however, PRP is much stronger and works much faster.

The platelets are the healing cells of the body, the cells that create clots when you cut yourself, forming a scab. By injecting these cells into the pain site, they heal the area in a naturally rapid way.
